Wirtgen Group

The Wirtgen Group (a John Deere Company) is an internationally operating group of companies in the construction equipment industry. In 2018, The Wirtgen Group UK officially opened their new UK headquarters in Newark, Nottinghamshire – a new 5,500 sqm head office building across a 9-acre site to support the
continued growth of the business.

At Wirtgen, sustainability plays an essential role in its growing operations and goals and therefore Cactus Energy was commissioned for the design and installation of a 183.92Kw solar panel system along with 4 x dual stand-alone EV Charge points.

Works began by conducting an overall property assessment including a structural survey to allow us to be able to excavate and install cables to the desired location for their EV charging points. Being a flat roof system, we designed a Solar layout which included a ballasted system to add inclination to the solar panels to allow us to generate as much renewable energy as possible.

Their EV charge points now provides workers and visitors the opportunity to charge their vehicles whilst on site and their solar panels system is already well on its way to reducing the organisation’s overall energy bills whilst reducing their carbon footprint too.
